The 6.1 inch screen and the removal of the home button is not an upgrade.
No matter how much money companies put into development/design/materials, the human hand is still the same shape it's always been.
for comfortable one handed use 4-5 inches is pretty much perfect for most of the population.
physical home button is a bit more of a matter of taste, but since the bottom part of the device also falls outside the "comfortable" usable zone, it's stupid to have the screen so low and the empty surface can be populated by home button/big stereo speakers/extreme selfie camera/whatever you want.

Why is every “new” or “upgraded” phone larger and more fragile? More money for repairs & replacements. I notice that few use Facetime. Instead, I see men and children shouting while trying to hold the phones to their ears. Some drop and break them. Oh well. . .
