Conan Exiles Beginner's Guide - How to Survive and Thrive

In this video I will deal with clothes, material gathering, a bit of combat, creating tools and weapons and building a basic dwelling or house to help the new Conan Exiles player. Here is my basic survival guide for beginners to give you a fighting chance in Conan Exiles. It includes things I wish I had known when I first got the game in 2017 when it was released. What I have found with these basic steps you have a good chance of basic survival in Conan Exiles.

The most basic premise of Conan Exiles is survival in the fictional prehistoric Hyborian Age. Player characters begin convicted of various crimes, are sentenced to death, and are crucified under the scorching desert sun.
The player character is rescued by Conan and as an exile must navigate the Exiled Lands, a harsh desert landscape. A later update added a biome called the Frozen North, which added elements to build armour, and land to explore. It also added Star metal which is used to build strong armour, and better tools and weapons. An additional biome, The Highlands, was added in 2017. A high-level Volcano area followed in Q2 2018 in the northernmost region of the game map. This newest addition added Obsidian, used to create powerful tools and weapons rivalling their Star Metal counterparts. Three additional biomes (The Savannah, The Floodlands, and The Ashlands) were added into the game with the release of the Isle of Siptah expansion DLC in Q1 2021. According to Funcom community manager, Jens Erik, the finished game is around 53km

I ignored this game for many years because I thought it was an Elder-Scrolls-Online type of MMO, which didn't appeal to me at all.
When I discovered you could play Conan solo or coop without the usual toxic muppets you get in any online game, I realised just how much fun it was.

Hey Ricardo ! Here's a quick tip. Make your hatchet asap. Then use it to harvest the branches when you get to them. You'll get a lot from each one and more XP. Hope this helps ! ~Mu

i bought this a few years ago not long after release. But the combination of a buggy game and underpowered pc meant I didn't get far before ditching it. I was always a big fan of Age of Conan mmorpg and this game uses alot of the old graphic design, audio and animations from it. This video has inspired me to give it another go. Good stuff Ricardo :)

I bought this last month. I've been REALLY getting into it but there are some oddities where I have no idea how to proceed, then along comes Ricardo on the Youtube algorithm to provide guidance. This has helped a lot. You could do guides and walkthroughs throughout the whole game, I'd definitely watch that :D

Why do you need to build a shelter ? Is it permanent ? Do you start back at the shelter when you die ? Do you have to build one in every area you go ?

But it didn't go far enough to show me what I did wrong. You see I am stuck, I have a "Journey" that tells me to unlock the Carpentry Knowledge ... but I can't, for some reason.
How do I do that?
