This is my “Master Class” for OBS Studio. I’ve spent basically all of 2017 researching, scripting, revising, shooting, and producing this course, and I’m quite proud of what it’s become. This should be a fantastic all-in-one reference guide with the software, with just minimal updates required for new features.

This course will primarily focus on the Windows version of OBS Studio. I have some minor points that reference differences with macOS and Linux setup, but I cannot currently go in-depth with those versions at this time.

Also, this video is available in a full 4K UHD 60 frames per second format. This will give you not only the best visual quality, but the best clarity for viewing text and settings menus.

Thanks for watching!

EposVox, the hotkeys I apply only work when OBS is in the foreground (That is, when OBS is in focus). *I run OBS as an administrator*. Yet it does not work, while I am in game and OBS is not in the foreground. Is there any other solution to this?

Is it possible to add scenes to voicemeeter macro buttons? I cannot seem to make it work.

I haven't yet played with OBS, I'm trying to decide whether to use it, or other software, for as close as I can get to professional level video for YouTube.

What I'm thinking will be the most time-consuming in "post production" is separating out the wheat from the chaff of my recordings, especially if I just do another take when I screw something up, I'll end up with some good takes, and some bad ones.

Is there any way to use a USB foot switch to flag or delete bad snippits AS I RECORD so I'm left mostly with the good takes when I start editing?
(Maybe a two switch set, one foot switch to mark/separate the snippits, and one foot switch to flag or delete "the snippit I'm in" because it stinks?)

Thanks!

I've experienced a couple of annoying issues with hot keys.
1) They are global. That is even if OBS is in the background it takes the hot key. If you are doing something else on the machine and press that hot key you may not realize what you just did to OBS. Solution (not covered in this video) appears to be assign keys you'll never use. Which takes the convenience out of using the keyboard in the first place. Maybe a MIDI keyboard controller is the real answer here. Why a OBS developer has not made anything turnkey for this, I don't know.
2) The cut key seems to rarely work. It may have to do with something above or the key I assigned it. But it's annoying when cut does not work. I'd sure like OBS to work more like a real production switcher rather then this gamer oriented thing. My $0.02.

Hey. I've been using hotkeys like CTRL + SHIFT + B for some overlays (alpha transparant rendered MOV videos that I made in After Effects) and this works great! Though somebody sent me a PrehKeyTec (MCI 128) keyboard which has 128 buttons (like that Elgato keypad thing you show here - although these are used for cashregisters and such, but that shouldn't matter). I have programmed one key to do a "CTRL + SHIFT + B" when I press it. It works! Though, I have been messing with this for hours: When the OBS window is off-focus (during a game or just having another window selected/focussed) the CTRL + SHIFT + B on the real keyboard still works (Hotkeys are set to work even when OBS is not on focus), but when I press a key on the PrehKeyTec keyboard, it doesn't happen. I can't get why this is.
