There still are Great Stinks in England.

Stinking smog has killed more English than gas during World War One, and the problem probably will not end until Brexit.

This documentary overlooks the fact that these smogs were not just resigned only to the city, The outer London suburbs had them just as bad. An old neighbour of mine told me that he once got of a bus and had to count, and feel his way along, the front gates to the house so that he could find his own house.

My mother was traveling Europe at the time. She wanted to go to London, but couldn't because of the smog. The problem still wasn't fixed in the 1970s. I remember coughing up black phlegm when in London in 1979. The buildings were covered in black soot with scaffolding for routine cleaning. I can imagine the smell. I grew up in Los Angeles in the 1960s. The smog had an acrid, oily smell.

It wasn’t just fog. It was fog mixed with toxic chemicals, smog.

I remember standing on the kerb in Ealing in about 1964 and only knowing a bus had pulled up because the fog glowed a little, I couldn't see the bus.

I visited London in October 1999 and I remember getting out of the hostel lobby to a kind of a rear balcony and I was baffled by a terrible stink. I wondered "Where the hell does this come from?". Now I know it was all around the city

Imagine when people burned peat instead of coal and the streets were full of filth from the excrement of people and animals, chemicals used in street level industries!

It’s a little odd to be like ‘ah the killer fog is a bit romantic isn’t it’ in a documentary titled killer fog.

Nothing changes... Unless you make something everyone wants or you have something everyone else wants to see or hear then you have no value to society as a whole. What is the point of life...

The miasma came to London well before industrialisation. The first recorded one coincided with the balck death. A massive purple cloud that people of the time blamed for the plague.
