The knight’s Templar

Founded in 1119, The Knights Templar considered themselves warrior monks.
They were given the title The Army of God On January 13, 1128, by Pope Honorius II.

They were among the most skilled warriors of the crusades and due to the backing of the Catholic church they began to amass immense wealth. Mostly through donations made by kings and queens of Europe but also by common folk.

They arguably created the world's first banking system. As Well as building fortifications, houses and garrisons all throughout Europe and the middle east.

They were considered above the law.

After almost two centuries the Templars' influence had waned but they were still in business. King Phillip IV France who was heavily indebted to the templars decided to use this to his advantage by pushing the then pope clement V to declare the templars heretics based on false charges.

The result was that on Friday 13th October 1307 letters had been sent out and opened simultaneously demanding the arrest and execution of Templars. Thus putting an official end to their order.

Apparently, when Louis XVI of France was beheaded, someone leapt forward and grabbed his head shouting that this was revenge for the execution of Grand Master of The Order Jacque De Molay at the hands of King Louis ancestor Phillip IV.
