In just two weeks, my neglected planted tank transformed from an algae jungle to a thriving ecosystem; no CO2, no heavy maintenance, just nature at work. Follow along as I share what happened, the unexpected lessons I learned, and how this experience changed the way I approach aquarium care.

Thanks for another great instructional video. The time lapse was really helpful. I intentionally have ramshorns snails in my tanks and I never thought about the amano's eating their eggs.

Great video. Nice methodical way get the tank back to balance. It shows that a more patience approach is best. Looks like you have Hydra in the tank, too.

In a no co2 aquariums id say. Algae eating fish/snails and shrimp. Relax on the fertiliser and light intensity as in a non co2 tank your limiting factor will be co2 so to much your plant cant use but the algae can. Floating plants are great as they can get co2 from the air and can help block to much light. Also plants sticking out of the tank like Pothos and English ivy.

This video gave the impression that otocincluses can work on green spot algae, while other channels say it can't. One forum says yes it can, another forum says no it can't. Who the hell should I believe here 😐
These fish do not come cheap in my local stores, so forgive me if I take a long, good look at each claim about algae eaters.
My tank isn't overrun with algae by the way, I'm just considering getting some algae eaters so that maybe I only have to scrub my glass every two weeks or something.

I intentionally add “pest” snails to all my aquaria, if they don’t come free with plants. They’re fun to watch, and they take care of algae. Why wouldn’t I? And yes, shrimp balance the snail population, even if they aren’t Amano shrimp. My neocaridina have had the same effect.

They are pest snails in fish stores, not necessarily for a planted tank 😂

Meh, gold fish are not pure 'cold water' only fish they still chill in temperate waters.
