Lyrically, "Twenties" appears to be a cheeky foreshadowing of what people thought the 1920s would be like (prosperous for all) without knowing all the horrors that were coming right around the corner (the Great Depression, World War II, etc.). Here, it seems like Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge is using that historical context as an analog for the present day, as we're entering the 2020's with a whole new stack of uncertainties.

When you come into this song expecting references to the (19)20ies, but then realising that *these* are the twenties, and the references are to this mess of a world right now, parallels drawn artistically. Ghost you absolute beauties.

Probably my personal pick for standout track on Impera. Can't get enough. So good. I love the Old Hollywood feel of the horns and Timpani in the beginning before going into the drum and guitar breakdown.
