Holy Cow, It's been 10 months since I first watched this!
There is SO SO much debate and "authority b**ches" that say how the flowers don't effect the leaves growth, and just so much bla bla bla.
Out of all my ears, I let my Colocasia Illustris go into bloom mid summer. It gave 6 blooms.
My leaves went from 17 & 19" long leaves, all the way down to 6" if I'm lucky. 😂
I am glad that it gives pups, because this mother plant is no longer the same, even after removing the blooms from happening.
I will never allow my other ears to bloom.... Ever!!
I returned to find your video for a recap, and gave me reassurance that I'm doing right to all my other ears!!
Thank You Sir!!!

Sir,
I realize your video is over 3 years old, but after searching all the so-called experts you have put alot of information in a very simplified form. Thanks. My neighbor across the street has variegated Elephant Ears and I asked her if I could have some for my backyard. She said take all you want. She said they grow so well they choke out other plants. I am originally from Tampa, Fl. and grew up with them in my yard. They grow very, very big there. I am now in Charlotte, NC and am amazed she has them growing so healthy in this climate. Being a bulb they continue to come back each year as well as spread through the root system. I took a dozen or so (might get some more), to see if I can get the same results she has. We do get ice and snow, but hers seems to keep coming back. Thanks again for the post. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm growing elephant ears for the 2nd time. I bought bulbs last year from Lowe's the "large ear" size, 3 in a bag. They grew really well maybe 2 feet leaf size. I didn't use but Miracle Growth every 2 weeks, Black Cow was mixed in my flower bed, but I didn't had more. I wish I had seen your blog last year. Those 3 bulbs had produced about 4 baby plants each. I didn't separate them. When the weather started to change to low 40's degrees, I cut them back, to the ground, and dug them up, put them in a card board box and kept them in my garage. I replanted them again the last of March. They were a little slow coming back due to the cool weather coming in and out. Than once the chilly nights stopped they have took off. But I did buy from online, the 2 of the Jumbo Size, like one you're showing now, in April. I'm putting more Black Cow manure, it has two plants coming out on bulb already ( the bulbs cost almost $28..each (shipping/taxes NOT included)I also have a Jumbo Black Diamond (I can't wait to see those huge black ears💃🏾)I got with it. It's doing good, they're about 12 inches plus out the ground.
So to those wanting to get any the Jumbo bulb could/will cost $25 and up from a good nursery online. The plant established as these on this yeah much more.😉
I'm going to make me some coins👏🏾😉
Leadfarmer73 please Get a Black Diamond Elephant Ear, and educate us on it. I'll text you a picture of mine soon.
Keep up the good work!

Ok.. PROPS for you man! I catch a lot of BS from my friends gardening and my whole house is full of plants 🌱. Yesterday I was looking around and saw the elephant ear plant and? Well I need to add one to my collection 😊. There is one little issue tho.. I’m all the way up in western Canada. I know I can’t keep one outside but I keep my house nice and humid. Is it worth doing inside?

Great lesson, thank you! I have been dividing mine, but hadn’t much luck. Now I know to let the corm dry out before replanting. Always enjoy your videos! I heard about you from Homestead Heart, love those guys!

Great information. I have three growing in a container right now. After watching this, I think I might just uproot them and put them somewhere in the front yard.

Great info Brother Lead. I need to plant a few of those near my wife's Rose bushes. Splitting bulbs is a real money saver. Speaking of money savers. Can't remember if you have comfrey out in your orchard. We are gonna split some soon. Let me know if you need any. We still owe you for that amazing jar of honey.
God bless you and the Lead Family!

Great video thank. I’ve got about 20 wild EE’s growing wild very way in the back corner of my yard. I’m transferring many of them closer to my side yard. I’m making trails then a clearing with a bench. Calling it Elephant Ear recreation area. I feel your heat brother, I’m in Florida.

Thks so much! I named the mother two years ago. She was in a morning sun still too warm sunny a day went on. I moved her to a patio that gets only morning sun. Wonderful....but....now I will have to eventually move her new corms to a new large container here. When do I wonder when to dig up and winter over.

From PA I really love the way you've put thought into buying your land and gardening the way you imagined! Now look at all the fruit of your hard work.
Today I listed to you talking about the elephant ears. If you do sell I would like to buy from you. Be blessed.

I so appreciate your knowledge of the Elephant Ear plant, one of my favorites—- I planted a giant elephant ear 3 years ago and each year it’s so beautiful and full, now I know I need to propagate- (never have I ever)😀, watched your video on cutting them away from the mother bulb—- let the cuttings(bulbs) dry out 1/2 days — got that— now to replanting them is my question— the white part of the bulb go down into the dirt or?

Good video! Very informative. 🪴✨☀About to plant a mammoth elephant ear bulb I got from Walmart. Had to initially cut part of the bulb due to it having mold/root rot, but I washed it with dawn, then used hydrogen peroxide on and have let it callus for 2-3 days so I’m hoping it’ll do fine once it gets going. Sending good energy & luck your way!
