Federal justice minister discusses bill to legalize single-event sports betting – November 26, 2020

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, David Lametti, the federal minister of justice, discusses proposed government legislation aimed at decriminalizing betting on individual sporting events. The proposed amendments to the Criminal Code would permit provinces and territories to regulate and license single event sport betting on any sporting event except horse racing. The minister is joined by Liberal MPs Vance Badawey (Niagara Centre), Chris Bittle (St. Catharines), and Irek Kusmierczyk (Windsor–Techumseh).
