I tried to have this discussion with someone a while ago. A friend. They were insistent that "China did it in the past but were no longer practicing such things and were now on a level playing field."
What I wanted to say at the time, whether he was wrong or right, was that he was making an ends justify the means kind of argument. But I was too busy foaming at the mouth to mount an effective response.
What I am trying to say is thank you for being the voice of reason and giving cold, hard evidence.

I'll have to check Barret out but defending or denying IP theft in China is beyond absurd. I don't even buy that the most shielded propaganda pickled Chinese nationalist believes China is innocent on this one. Sure they may feel that China is justified but lilly white innocent, no not a single one IMO. If IP was respected in China I may very well have been in China but was advised against it by some Chinese themselves. It really pains me and cost me years of delays figuring this out (Call me slow). Perhaps someday I'll make it back and get a China adventure going.

I cannot believe how silly this vlog is how Chinese haters can cheer you up on this. You misrepresented Barrett's vlog on this subject. In that vlog Barrett clearly said "of course China is guilty of Industrial espionage but that isn't unique to China. Japan did that and even in the US itself there are literally thousands of lawsuits going on about IP theft". Barrett did not say it was OK but the essence of the argument is, why should China be singled out for that crime when everyone else is doing it? You yourself say you don't support any wrong doing including drug dealers so how about opium dealers that paralysed China? Why don't you say anything about that? You are nothing but a hypocrite.
