Jason Kenney Rejects the Premise

On March 12, 2022 I had the privilege of asking our Premier, Jason Kenney, a question about the implementation of the 2021 draft curriculum on his live radio show. He answered part of the question, and rejected the premise of the majority of the question. Unfortunately, it was not a forum for ongoing discussion so I got to have one follow-up question then was cut off.

In this video, I analyze his responses from an educational best practices perspective, fact check his response with media articles, and provide an educated critique of the honesty and validity of his response to my question. I also pose important follow up questions that the Alberta public deserves honest answers to.

There was a typo in the transcript I received: the word should read "regressive" not "aggressive."

Dr. Grace, thank you very much for your diligence in exposing the lies, lack of knowledge, and obvious political goals of the UCP. If we want to teach students about maintaining a strong, thoughtful society, vote out the UCP next election and go with the curriculum we had before. The goal is privatization. We must defeat this premise.

Kenney said it was tried but didnt mention that the plagiarism was from American Republican lead states with the lowest ranking in education.

Amazing presentation, thanks for this.

Let's see how long it takes before Mr. Shandro shows up at your door to personally berate you for this.

The draft curriculum is a hot mess and it is easy to see the errors and inconsistencies contained therein. However, I am no more thrilled by the idea of a curriculum designed by a committee of professionals completely outside the value spectrum of your average Albertan. For example, a Social Studies curriculum chaired by Dr. Peck, which undoubtedly would be more consistent and better proofread, would also introduce pedagogical methods and value statements that are considered very fringe outside the hallowed halls of academia. It would be splendid if the religious right and the fanatical left kept their nose out of this.
