You buy a Grand Seiko because: A: You are a fan of Seiko and you want the best they have the offer. B: You are spending 5 grand on a watch and you want the best value (most hand finishing for the lowest price) watch there is. There is no Flexing with Grand Seiko.

Grand Seiko makes great watches, especially the craftsmanship on the dials. GS’s biggest weakness is their bracelets. Not sure why they can’t make significant improvements to be more competitive.

Gotta agree with you. I have a 2020 Date Just and I love the clasp but those damn skinny hands are hard to find sometimes. The wider GS hands are easier to read but they have no lume. GS is more accurate and a much better value considering the amount of human interaction during manufacturing.

Awesome review and I agree with your conclusion. Comparing these two watches is or would be comparable to comparing the Seiko Marine Master 300 to the Rolex Submariner. The Submariner is 3 times more expensive but the Marine Master is so much more the better of the two 👍🏻💯

I recently purchased the SBGA439 and am very happy with it.
Plus, this model has a much more attractive case back featuring the GS Lion.
Grand Seiko; no muss, no fuss, readily available, and you can negotiate on the price. Also, GS now offers a five year warranty putting them on equal ground with Rolex.

Lol, tell me you're a Rolex hater without telling me. I have both an OP 41 Silver dial (bought new at retail with a very short wait) and the GS SBGA439 Blue dial spring drive (bought new on clearance for 25% off retail) and they're both lovely watches. I don't get the need to bash one brand or the other because you're a Seiko or Rolex fan boy, just appreciate them both for what they are, not everything has to be a competition. People like this guy are exactly what's wrong with brand hating/loving "watch guys".

If you take out the GS logo, can you even guess the watch? I mean the look is just common, even micro brands have almost the same look. But for Rolex, if you cover the logo you still recognize it's case, dial, indices or hands design.

I agree, I like grand saco as well. However, only make 45000 watches a year 15000 mechanical 15000 Spring drive And fifteen thousand Battery movements, Rolex Theirs at 1 million a year. They're not even the same ballpark. They probably don't even know who Grandpa was yet.
