I like the respect Wolverine shows the samurai. Without the regeneration ability, he would have lost the fight. It wasn’t a fair fight to begin with and I think he acknowledges it, which is why he gives him the chance to walk away

Peak physical hugh, this was the peak wolverine, shame age started catching up to him, he was in good physical shape in deadpool but clearly aged.

I recently reread the 1982 Wolverine miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller (w/inks by Joe Rubinstein). I liked how in that comic, they showed that Wolverine’s healing factor has its limits and him already being poisoned or wounded puts him in real danger against Shingen.
As much as I like this scene, I wish that they’d gone with that vibe. They could’ve had it to where Wolverine’s healing factor was returning, but severely weakened since it was JUST restored to him. This fight would’ve had a lot more on the line, with Shingen clearly being more skilled (and poisoned himself) fighting a recovering but still vulnerable Wolverine. Still, it’s an awesome fight onscreen, and Hiroyuki Sanada was good as Shingen. 👍
