Super Secret Watch Repair Paper Revealed

People often ask about which paper I use for my watchmaking, assuming it's some kind of specialist paper made just for working with watch parts... but it's just a Post-It Note! They are really kind of perfect for this kind of work, they ship with almost no dust, the adhesive back holds it steady for fine work, they are bright so you have a lot of contrast, and they are small so they aren't wasteful. Can you use a solvent such as naphtha or even isopropyl alcohol (which does have water in it I think) or are those too harsh? I refurbish electric guitars which have nowhere near the high tolerances needed for watches and my go-to cleaner is naphtha. I use nitrocellulose lacquer for finishes and naphtha is a good option that won’t eat lacquer but will remove most residues, even Sharpie ink without harming lacquer…but care is required. Since watching your channel I’ve started using pegwood sticks for cleaning any body and hardware surfaces so even though I’m not a watch repairer I learned from watching you! Thanks. Oh, I’ll have to add Post-It Notes to my kit.

try rice (smoking) paper its a lil more abbrasive and sucks up oil realy well.

It can be a problem after getting the jewel off the finger Then having it stolen by the fairy's. Sometimes later they even put it back right under your nose for you to find. They do like their games.
