I am a long-term resident of Taiwan, holding Taiwanese citizenship, and have been living in the country for over 30 years. At 45 years old, I spent my teenage years from 14 to 21 in Canada, studying and working there. I possess a detailed understanding of the political landscape and changes in Taiwan. From my perspective, I do not categorize the 2024 election as a mere choice between democracy (favoring independence) and non-democracy (favoring unification with China). Defining the election in such terms is unfair, especially when done by outsiders who do not reside in Taiwan.

In reality, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), also known as the Green camp, supports independence, aligning with the prevailing political trend in Taiwan. On the other hand, the Kuomintang (KMT), or the Blue camp, is attempting to shift its internal party culture from pro-China to pro-Taiwan (more independence). However, this strategy has not proven successful in recent election campaigns. The challenge does not stem from the KMT's preference for being part of China; rather, it arises because the DPP (Green) employs strategic manipulation to portray the KMT as pro-China, deceiving people in Taiwan into believing that the KMT supports China. This is a significant factor in the DPP's consistent victories over the last three terms, including the current one.

In my view, the KMT is striving to protect people and prevent conflict, yet they bear the political burden of being labeled as "part of China." This label poses a consistent challenge for the KMT in defeating the DPP in every election. Beyond the political dynamics between Taiwan and China, the DPP is implicated in corruption and illegal trade within Taiwan, deceiving the Taiwanese people and impeding economic development. These stories and conflicts within Taiwan often go unnoticed by international media or press.

Putting everything in an ETF will cause a disaster one day and tank everything because it will all be intertwined. Maybe thats what Larry wants
