What blew my mind was the amount of people who literally pulled over their cars and got out to watch a brush fire. People are so easily entertained I guess. Dumb.

Someone has to be setting all of these fires at scrappers and "brush fires" I feel like it's the tent people but hey what do I know...

At this point it looks like a controlled burn. Better this way for the coming summer.

It’s really too bad to have that fire destroy an area. My understanding is that this is a place of refuge for very vulnerable people who are without a roof over their heads. That makes this fire all the more heartbreaking. It might also explain why there are so many people and vehicles but not so many buildings in sight.

It really is heartbreaking to see the stand of trees being burned as well; they make a huge difference as to how will the soil can retain moisture and nutrients; they also keep the soil in place with heavy rainfall finally does hit, and affect the ability of the soil to retain enough of the moisture to be able to sustain the local plant life during hot and dry periods.

With all the serious fires that have been happening throughout North America in the last few years, perhaps it’s time for governments to go back to the simple and relatively inexpensive idea that our grandparents and great grandparents had, of maintaining fire breaks at regular intervals in and around communities and vulnerable areas, to at least limit the damage that fires can cause when they do break out.

Does anybody know if everybody in the area got out OK?
