--------
In this clip, Michael Jai White reacted to film critic Matt Singer listing two of his films among the worst of the 1990s. The two film Singer plucked out for critique were actually two movies that Michael wasn’t entirely proud of himself. He spoke specifically about how poorly written script for 'Universal Soldier 2' had been and it's placement in the top 20 of the worst movies of the '90s.

The one thing I've always appreciated about Van Damme is his incorporation of long drawn out fights where he gets his ass kicked a lot before he ultimately succeeds unlike Seagal, who never lets an opponent in any movie scene get the better of him for a single moment. Van Damme knows how to entertain a fight scene and doesn't allow his ego to make him look absolutely untouchable!

I think the line was actually "I was machine who yearned to be a man. Now I'm better than both." Not at all a bad line. While I appreciate Michael Jai White's humbleness, he sells himself short. He's a really good actor and those Universal Soldier movies are not bad films. They are exactly what they are supposed to be.

I like how he’s able to recognize that the movie was bad and laugh at it

I just wish Michael Jai White would have appeared in the ultra-violent Universal Soldier Regeneration and Day of Reckoning, those movies kicked ass. A Universal Soldier ultra violent Michael Jai White fight against JCVD, Scott Adkins, Dolph Lundgren and Andrei Arlovski would have been amazing.

Yeah he wasn’t in Universal Soldier 2. He had a brief role in the first one, but then 2 and 3 were awful TV movies. He came back in Universal Soldier: The Return in ‘99 along with Van Damme which was the official sequel to the first one so he’s kinda right.

Some geek who was not even alive in the 90''s and was an accident, should not even be talking about 90's movies.

Universal soldier part 2 the only issue I had with that is the fact that Michael Jai White was so good as a fighter there is no way that John Claude Van dam should have been able to beat him and I'm actually a Jean-Claude Van Damme fan but in that movie he was bested as a fighter by Michael Jai White. Also the demeanor that Michael Jai White had in that movie is what made me like him as an actor and saw his range.

I think universal soldier was what was supposed to be. Almost every action from that time period made no sense

Toxic Avenger (and all the movies made by Jersey based Troma) was intentionally made bad that it’s good.

I actually saw Universal Soldier 2 in the theaters with my friends. My buddy Luis came out of the theater and summed up the whole movie "Hey, we found the secret to immortality. Let's make soldiers!" It was so dumb, but I still had a good time.
