The thing I don't like about Carlos Slim is that he made part of his fortune charging exorbitant fees to Telmex users (practically, the whole country). I'm Mexican and I lived there for many years.

I was raised in Mexico. Lived there for 20 years. He monopolized the communication industry and took advantage of it. Prices were extremely high and the service poor. I mean if you're the only man selling phone services to millions of people at high prices you have to become a billionaire. Smart guy tho

it was hard times in ottoman controlled lebanon when his dad and my great-grandfather emigrated. Settling in mexico they had to deal with all the drama of being a minority during the mexican revolution too on top of it. To many people his dad and him were resented but to me, it is a really inspirational story to see a paisano become so successful.

Bueno, yo creo que Mexico ya empezó con la realización de proyectos grandes y al servicio de los Mexicanos. No entiendo, porque, si tenemos tanta agua en el Sur que se corre al mar desperdiciadose y porque no la podemos mandar hacia el Norte de país por tubería y a presión para fortalecer la agricultura y las necesidades de agua en la parte norte del país...Cualquier inversion en este sentido se pagaría por si sola. Tan solo las cervecerías Internacionales estarían encantadas de subsidiar este proyecto con tal de pagar la mano de obra barata en Mexico...Ojalá y nuestro Presidente dejará esta obra amarrada para terminarse lo más pronto posible....
