INSTALLING EXEDY STAGE 2 CLUTCH ON 350Z

Today we installed a Exedy stage 2 clutch on my Nissan 350z! Unfortunately I did not get to test the clutch due to my upper oil pan snapping off but I will make a update video on the clutch performance once we fix this issue!
I want to thank Beakhan and Cody for assisting me today and making sure I didn't light the car on fire, as I suggested.

Things to note: 350z upper oil pan is made out of aluminum. Aluminum is soft so please be careful.
We did torque down to spec but unfortunately this is a 16 year old car and sh*t happens. Did I mention this is a 350z lol

I love how thorough you are when working. Making sure everything is clean before reassembly.

As someone who works on aircraft for a living, I fully understand the frustration of when you are so close to being "done" and something goes wrong. You got this Liz, keep up the great work.

In replacing the clutch on my mini, I discovered a cross threaded bolt that needed to be drilled out, welded and helicoiled. I then put the transmission in but didn’t put enough oil in it. Then when replacing the transmission, it had a broken mount for the slave cylinder in shipping. Had to get that welded before installation. Long story short, I appreciate how this s**t happens, and it makes seemingly easy jobs take too long and cost too much. I feel your pain!

Damn that sucks, all of us You Tube comment mechanics can preach all sorts of reasons why it happened and give solutions up the a$$ but at the end of the day we weren't there we can only speculate from the cheap seats. I hope the engine out project goes smoother!! Looking forward to more content from your channel, you're doing a good job, keep it up!

What I like about this channel is that I watch you learn, and sometimes, that process can be immensely frustrating. Stick with it, you are doing a great job! Love the channel!

I have been there more times than I care to count. Hence why I have a built motor in my current project. I feel you but look at it as an opportunity to really sort out the engine to prevent headaches later. Great channel and keep up the hard work.

Yep, that was bound to happen. Especially seeing the condition the undercarriage is in. 😔
Alas, better you found all these issues now than when you did all the work and have it blow up on your first outing. In truth, when you saw how much oil was coming from both banks, you should’ve stopped the tranny work and make plans to remove the engine. I know it would have been the last thing you wanted to do, but you know it had to be taken care of regardless.
Chin up. You’ve got the opportunity to build it better now. 😉👍🏻

Damn $25 for no nudity on onlyfans seems high. LOL.

If you take a closer look at the video, you'll notice how the bottom piece that broke was sheared off by bending towards the transmission so it seems that the mating surface wasn't fully seated to the engine and oil pan. If the transmission was fully flush against the engine side, over torquing would shear a bolt, pull a thread or deform the hole before breaking off like that. I'm only pointing this out because I'd hate for you to replace the oil pan only to do it again. Love what you're doing though, you're an inspiration!

Great video, Liz. So far, you've done everything right on the clutch job. Bummer that some parts broke. That's auto repair for you! Keep up the good fight and you will win!

Sorry Liz, that’s so frustrating when that happens hate that sound that snap of something breaking and you know it’s not good but look on the bright side you’ll be able to go through the engine a little bit fix any leaks clean it up really nice and you have a lift which is going to make the whole process way easier and of course good friends to help it already seems like you’re right at home in the shop. have a great one🙂🦆🦆🦆👍

5:29 - Nice job cleaning up the inside of that bell housing! And that look at 6:24 !! Ha!!! Sorry it's going to take more time and money than you had hoped, but if it allows you to find some other smaller problems, and keeps them from becoming big problems, it'll be worth your time.

It is always frustrating when something breaks. But you might as well do it correctly. Even tho money gets tight. We all been there. Just think when it’s done you’ll be better off 🙃
