Cooking with Mom • Ma's Italian Gravy with Meatballs recipe.

If you want to know how to make simply the best, real, spaghetti and meatballs, aka red sauce, aka gravy, then honestly you can do no better then following my mother's recipe.

I shot this a while I was home and since we all seem to be stuck at home now, it seemed appropriate to post it and share it with the world. My mother for the record is perhaps the greatest cook on the planet, and I say that as a pretty harsh judge; I've been fortunate to have eaten in the best restaurants in the world because of my job, and not for nothing, my mother can always top them with a home cooked meal. She is simply the best, and my favorite human on the planet. I love you ma.

So enjoy this simple Italian-American recipe, and make it at home with your family. Stay strong, stay in love, and be vigilant. These are weird times for sure but rely on your family, either the one you are born into or the one you've built to bring you through. We are, of course, all one big family, so lets all sit at the table and enjoy a good meal together.

You'll need about 6 cans of Del Monte (or one can of San Marzano)
6 cloves of garlic
4 slices white bread
1/2 cup of milk
4 eggs
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 lbs each of ground beef, pork and veal
4 pork spare ribs
6 italian pork sausage
dried oregano, basil, salt and pepper
pec/romano cheese
1 cup fresh parsley
1 box Barilla pasta

I lived in Bayonne, NJ many years ago. I met lots of very nice Italians there and was lucky to be invited to their homes. The food was delicious. I will never forget. Thanks for sharing your family recipe. I can taste it through the computer monitor.
