What other languages sound like to foreigners? Today's video explores six different languages. Watch a Latino react and challenge himself to listen to the sounds of Russian, Hindi, Filipino, German, Mandarin and Bengali.

Can a Spanish Speaker Understand Portuguese, Italian and Catalan?

The video is divided in several sections based on how languages sound to non speakers:

Section number 1 explores how does Russian sound These language is considered very harsh by many, but I personally love it! Let me know what you think!

Section 2 will explore the question "how does Hindi sound to foreigners?" I have to say that as a big Bollywood fan, I am a bit biased about my love for this language.

Section 3 is dedicated to a big number of our followers. We will look at the question "how does the Filipino language sounds like?" Of course, I am familiar with this language because of my previous videos, but I never focused on the language itself, so I am excited to listen to it.

Section 4 moves on to a very popular language. We will explore how German sounds, and hopefully dispel some of the stereotypes that plague this language. As always we aim for inclusion and representation of everybody!

Section 5 touches on one of my favorite languages, Bengali also known as Bangla. Bengali sounds like soft rain and it is irresistible. I cannot wait to show you this beautiful language.

Last but not least, section 6 explores the sounds of Mandarin Chinese. I personally think this a very musical and also beautiful language!

Hope you guys enjoy our videos, and remember this is convospeak, and we focus on Spanish language and Hispanic culture!

You can barely see a Filipino speaking pure Tagalog/Filipino because we grew up not knowing the Tagalog term for that word, or it just sounds to deep for us to say the correct word. And some English words can be the names of the location 😅

Bengali is so similar to Hindi that I (non-Bengali speaker) can understand almost everything in Bengali.
Actually Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Maithili and Assamese belong to same language family they are dialects of a language Prakrit which is a dialect of Sanskrit.

The language which used in Bollywood basically is mixture of Hindi and urdu and mutually understood by Urdu/Hindi native speakers. The video you used is very formal Hindi . She's just receiting a kind of poem.😇

You make a good point. I suppose that all languages just sound like different types of music. Some is more melodic, others are more mathematical. Cool video.

The Filipino guy is actually stuttering a bit with his Tagalog. He's actually speaking Tagalog, not Filipino. Filipino is largely based on tagalog so there are a lot of similarities. The problem is that Tagalog is slowly being forgotten more and more. Filipinos are actually starting to switch to something called Taglish (Tagalog-English) because they often forgot the tagalog word for it. It doesn't help that the primary medium of instruction in the country is in English. But rather than American or British english, they have their own that they call Filipino-English which is based off of American english but has words that are given different meanings.

If you look for any millenials or Gen Z from the Tagalog speaking region of the Philippines (Central Luzon) and ask them to speak in straight tagalog, they'd have a hard time doing it .

7:03 Note that the word "Wika" is a tagalog word. The Filipino word for it is "lengwahe" from the word "Language".

4:49 German sounds like English with a European accent. So my brain is trying to compute and make sense of what he's saying😂

Filipinos don't use most of the words the guy said in the video in their day to day life. You can only encounter most of those words in Filipino textbooks. 😊
