Fantastic video and gathering of minds, thank you all. I love the idea of a model-centric focus with the incorporation of an ethical regulator, in line with Mick Ashby's work.

I particularly liked Anna Lembke’s comment and question about the need for a person with addiction to relate to it by giving it to a higher power ( whether that power is the support of the therapeutic group, god, or the life force of nature, etc.). I wish the panel would have responded and discussed their thoughts on what the dynamics of this would look like in the model.

Also, I couldn’t help but think that Ian McGilchrist would be saying something like “that gives the person permission to rely more on the right hemisphere greater wholistic skills.” KURT, as a possible future interview, Anna an Ian would likely have a very fruitful discussion and one that might have some practical, take home usable wisdom for listeners.❤

At this moment I am trying to survive this so called society and improving it isn't on the menu.
You have to be in a good place in life to start thinking that way, many of us are just surviving all the new pitfalls that keep opening up at whim in our so called modern society.

It'd be great if the description could be updated to include the participant's names 👍

We have to look at the original implicit social contract that brought us out of the caves and lifted our knuckles from the ground. The primary component of that contract is a baseline equity which does not expect or force people to live below that threshold, simply because their potential is wasted and not brought to bear for the sake of everyone. And then we have to note that political ideologies are not equally responsible for the destruction of this contract and vote accordingly..

I have a mechanical keyboard with replaceable keys. I've never once worried about the clicking sound. The keys I originally chose were just fine. My typing is faster now than before with half as much strain on my body. My biggest problem is that keys are so smooth, when I get my hand in the wrong position, I instantly mash three keys with one finger. I had certain keys that my fingers were bumbling into, like the "windows" key, so I put switches in a few places with very heavy contact force, and now I have this problem far less often. My wife has two, one for home and one for the office. She hated how stiff her keys were on her old office keyboard, so put the lightest keys available into her keyboard and now she types 25% faster (I can tell just by the sound). That's a pretty big deal when you type for a living for hours out of every work day. The only way I could type faster is by breaking home position. For example, it is way faster to type 'synonym' by using the left forefinger to poach the the two y's, so that the right hand can stay down on the m and n row. No, I'm not tempted to learn this.

Does anyone know which conference presentations was Bert referring to as really worth checking out? Does anyone know the name of the event or link?

When it comes to depression in younger adults, you might want to look at something simple, like the effects of different wavelengths of light on harmones and how this controls our moods and emotions. Humans have evolved to live in a certain kind of environment and our physiology hasn't been able to catch up with our technology/lifestyle

In early April, on YouTube, Darius interviewed Sanjeev Namjoshi on topics covered in Sanjeev's forthcoming textbook.

I almost wrote "two months ago" but then I realized that YouTube would soon date this comment as "two months ago" and two months ago from two months ago is what, exactly? Not optimally transitive, that's for faffing certain. Whoever invented this "ago" nonsense for metadata is optimizing some variable that makes me break out into a cold sweat. Each to his own, even under FEP.

Turning Point! I found the initial introduction of the video VERY not supportive of the topic. Saving society/Humanity entails more than a shotgun approach. Plans should be developed for a holistic solution of everything at once. Nothing else can save us. Lots of plans (few exist) should be located for evaluation. Only plans that can be comprehended by ordinary people should be taken serious.

I like this guy with a bed behind. America always surprises me how it wants to change the whole world while the world does not care about you. Better think of being handled like insects by my own algorithms.

I want to take FEP seriously, but I can't until it explains how this gloriously unified objective optimization so often leads us astray. Perhaps addiction is just another way of sampling the world. If that's not what you mean by action, please explain yourselves more clearly.

When one speaks the truth no one acknowledges it because they are expected to limit themselves [scale invariance] in time/interval or travel as a hand holding expected attribution. However once one does this they are now again being dictated to within a time [fodder] invariance reference point. They have once again become only an aspect within the fold. This is shown in a lack of flexibility in the language model. The language itself must be respected [the scientific observer must become variant or entirely mailable or flexible to truly understand] however the expression in delivery is what has been lacking. The observer however will lose themselves into absorption of the complex metabolism of that which is outside or was once outside [interplay]. The learned or academic must respect all language models firstly as a form of truth. Why don’t they? The Rosetta Stone or First Principle Language Model is incorrect from its origin [madness]. The academic has both created and executes an exclusive populous protection hiding behind a sort of self solving cryptic code breaking. The incryption of highbrow entomology will be discovered over time/space intervals however is set as a form of leave and ultimate generational profit [profiteering]. You live in the box yet refuse to acknowledge this because the learned language model somehow protects your form of intellectual narcissism. “You” being self-supported academic cult. Because there is a fear that one will lose themselves in the abstraction of non-linear thinking. In other words as ‘academics’ you say you are not linear however you are quite well aware of your false reporting. This identifies you (academic safety class) as a cult religion; you can’t join unless you lose your natural language model thereby adapt to the infinite pool of the same [madness]. The true madness is that you (few) are the ones who are stuck and projecting this in a sort of false-self idea of rumination. Not seeing that you are at ground zero and that you indeed are too exposed [to the virus of life so to speak].
