I think you should try lowering the CA of every English player by 20 to counter the FM stat skew and then retry the experiment. Would probably be closer to accurate

Fm is fully biased, English teams and the nation itself do better ingame as in real life.

No Ronaldo is because the game always forces him to retire around christmas in game. Also Germany sucking in game is probably because it wasn't the actual team it was the greyed out randos.
