Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are still the best announcer team I’ve ever heard. They taught you the game and made it enjoyable. New broadcasters could learn a lot from them.

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are part of the reason I fell in love with the game. Watching/listening to Sunday Baseball was an every week occurrence. RIP Joe Morgan.

Jon Miller/Joe Morgan Sunday Night Baseball ⚾ were the best duo in ESPN history.
The last great national broadcasting team.
Not only for what both brought to the booth, they didn't talk over one another but the 'secret sauce' was their captivating voices.
It was must watch/listen TV

Sunday night baseball was never the same after Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. I still do not know why they left. I grew up watching Joe Morgan during the 1970's and beyond. He was a class act and a tremendous player.

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan broadcasting baseball and Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshire broadcasting football. The experience is a guaranteed delight. It does not matter which teams were playing.

Not sure people really understand how great Joe Morgan was as a player. The man was the NL MVP in 1975 and 1976...in a league stocked with future HOF players. Grest defensive player. Great speed. Hit for average, drew a lot of walks, hit for power, hit in the clutch, drove in runs. Absolute excellence.

I wasn't a reds fan until Joe Morgan I saw how tall he was about five foot six or seven and the little glove he had man was he good couldn't believe it ...he would still a base and everybody knew what he was going to do and yet he still did it ...we called him chicken man when he hit his elbow against his side at bat... HE'S going to be missed RIP

For me, it's hard to think of Joe Morgan without thinking about Jimmy Wynn. I practically worshipped those two guys when I was a kid. My favorite players to this day, and the '60s Astros would have been dead without them. The front office was busy unloading our most talented guys right and left, and Morgan would soon follow.

Harry Walker called Joe a "troublemaker" and thought Morgan and Wynn, best friends and roommates needed to be separated. The pair was well-liked and respected by teammates and together they carried a lot of clout (and produced a lot of runs.) Walker got his way, though his own days were starting get numbered.

I was fortunate to have gotten to spend a little time around Joe Morgan when I was coming along, and I played second base. I remember clearly two things that he told me. First, wear a little glove. Your hands have to be quick, and it will make you sure handed. So I always wore the tiny mitt. Second, try as hard as you can for anything hit like it was the last play ever. You'll be surprised how many balls you wind up getting to if you try hard.
