All you HTC One haters disgust me, all of you were excited when the original Motorola RAZR came out years ago, HTC One kicks the shit out of that without even trying, try looking at the bigger picture where technology is concerned, The One and the Z1 are both Fantastic phones, I could not fault either of them, you may not like one or the other or even both, but you don't need to start publically hating and getting gobby because 1 year ago, the HTC would have been the best thing out, so think to yourself whether you need to be that petty, because 4/5 years ago, we had none of these amazing phones, I rest my

The Z1 display is incredible. No question. I don't know what you're on. No one watches videos from the side of the screen. The triluminous screen backed up with reality display is the same spec used in Bravia televisions cost £2500 sterling. And then u say super amoled is better? That is not true. Put a Samsung phone or an HTC one beside a Samsung TV and compare whites and you'll see what I mean.

@Zhao, below. Balls. The Z1 does not lag. At all. 4 weeks in, tonnes of apps and media installed, ... Not even a swiping hang. The UI is perfectly optimised for the hardware.

people say how much better the screen is on HTC one, but i just think its a matter of personal preference if you look past the viewing angles. Yes the HTC one is more vibrant with solid blacks and colours, but i actually prefer the "softer" glow of the xperia z1 screen, it isn't as harsh on the eyes especially in pitch black. Also a problem i've always found on HTC phones is that solid white colours seem to have a warm hue to them (6:00 on this video). But again, that is my personal opinion. Both great screens.

Is the htc worth buying this week to keep until next september?

I have the HTC one and bought it on release, I was seriously disappointed with the build quality of my unit (big gaps on speaker grills, jagged edges) after many exchanges and contacting Htc who didn't want to help, actually telling me all Htc ones were like this and I was being obsessive! Buying the z1 today and this video has made it an even easier purchase, I'm sure the build quality of the z1 won't let me down and IF it does I'm sure sonys customer service will be far better than htc's!

I just updated my HTC One to 4.3 and the camera software (v 5.1.658161) doesn't swing contrast as much in video mode as before. What version of the camera software are you using?

The HTC One has serious problems with video. Wildly fluctuating exposure, the image stabilization has a "jelly vision" effect, the microphone picks up a lot of wind noise and autofocus is slow, it never got a fix on the flower.

i need to upgrade my htc one m7, and they said try the z1. but its a 2 year contract. what should i get to upgrade my htc one m7?  can do about 250$ down IF it is really worth it. Canadian

Exactly. The new Sony displays might not have the best viewing angles, but they are hands down the best displays on the market, overall.
