Industrial robots have been essential components in many manufacturing and automation processes. However, six-axis robots have a significant limitation: they are stationary and typically fixed in position to operate within a defined workspace. This limitation hinders their mobility and flexibility. However, this restriction can be overcome with the addition of a 7th axis. The main advantage of adding a 7th axis to a robot is its ability to be easily transferred to other work cells, eliminating the need for additional robots. Additionally, this allows the robot to be positioned outside the workspace, meeting human safety requirements. Another significant benefit is that a smaller robot can perform the functions of a robot with a larger reach, expanding its operational capabilities. These benefits result in cost savings for the end-user and ensure a quicker return on investment, increasing overall productivity.
