I commute between 100 and 150 km a week in THE NETHERLANDS depending on which time of the year it is. I would like to share some thoughts and ideas with you that i have picked up through the years. I am not a expert as the shit can hit the fan during a commute. Being well prepared is crucial. I hope this helps.

Who the heck is Barry? I am a ex- elite triathlete and started riding in 1984. In real life I am a chiropractor.
This channel is about cycling and health. I also build my own bikes which can be a risky business as actually i am a chiropractor.
Born and bread in South Africa, riding my bike in The Netherlands is one journey of discovery as it's so beautiful. I race mountain bike marathons and will soon be doing my first gravel race.
I raced as a triathlete in South Africa and the United States of America and was on the South African Triathlon Invitation Team 1989.
Currently i am racing the Sforz MTB Cup in the Netherlands and Germany. I finished in 4th place in my age-group in 2017 and 2018 - 50+
Thank you for watching my channel.
Cheers

Have you ever considered using a velomobile for commuting? It eliminates the wind, rain and cold problems. I see you have a lot of long straight roads, that is ideal for a velomobile. In the past I did commutes from 60km one way. Average speeds of 30 till 40 km/h are possible for normal trained people.

For the chain breaker you didn't need a spare allen/hex key.
The black plastic on the sides are removable tyre levers, but one of them also has an allen key specifically for the chain breaker.

Hi Mate, finaly I succeded!
I convinced my daughter to bike to work too (2×10 km) and SHE LOVES IT. She is allowed to use my Cube Nuroad Pro, cause I knew a nice bike helps a lot. I'm happy and have other bikes to choose 😊

Finaly, I ordered my Cube Nuroad Pro FE. I was searching for a new commuter bike. My MTB is really cool, but not ideal for the job. I made a good deal. Waiting for the delivery 😊

Im late all the time as a bike commuter. I am very unorganized in the morning. I can’t find the mittens. Then I can’t find the bike lock. It goes on and on like this. And I am using an e-bike! I have to do better if I’m going to sell my car

Hi, I like your content very much and find it very useful!! As I saw the part with the chainbreaker, I was shocked, because I also have a topeak multitool. I added an extra alankey in my bag. But I thought, there must be another possibility... Found it: The needed alankey is built in one tyre lever! Best wishes from near Burg Frankenstein.
