Iwata san wasn't just "working on it, " he completely uprooted and redid the game in 6 months and saved it altogether. His feat of programming was so impressive, people in other companies were speculating who their demon-programmer was.

Iwata was the one who figured out how to optimise the game to where lots of things can fit in. That alone is enough to give him respect, as he was very eager for the game to sell. RIP Iwata-san

They managed to make the game take so little storage that they could fit the entirety of kanto in afterwards

This game is an engineering masterpiece as it used a very cleverly implemented compression that allowed the game to have both the Johto and Kanto regions in the cartridge. Satoru Iwata was a genius! and so were the Gamefreak crew.

They are not humans...

That amount of effort, patience, and knowledge are crazy

Mad respect to Satoru Iwata for pitching in work on these games in spite of his position as CEO. His spirit lives on in them.

I coded in assembly a few times and I don’t ever want to see assembly code in my life ever again.

Silver was the first Pokemon game I ever owned, and I have such a soft spot for all of the attention to detail put into it.

I had no idea it that their attention to detail was THIS crazy!

My first Jrpg was Pokemon gold to which i came across unexpectedly, someone emulated Pokemon Gold as a jar game so i played it on Nokia 5300 back when i was a child AND MAN!! it was just beautiful.. Completely beautiful..that game was none like other i ever played at that time ...like an adventure! ( I didn't own any pc so i only games on my brother's Nokia mobile at that time). To this day, that game has a special place in my heart!!!

Kudos to those 4 developers who made such an awesome game!

the CEO name is sotoro iwata. he is the ex CEO of Nintendo and is a fucking legend in both video games and coding. seriously look up his life he is a truest as they come as far as gamer and coder go and even took a massive paycut to pay for his employees instead of firing them when the company was struggling. RIP IWATA-san

"Even Nintendo CEO worked on this game" Now THAT'S some serious effort. Something the newer pokemon games lack...

I think every CEO of a tech related company should at least know how to code
