Cutting the rope is murder. What did the captain think? They would just slowly fall to the water?

WHAT TF!!! He cut the rope?!? What kind of lunacy?!? Is that protocol??? I was not expecting to hear of such blatant negligence and idiocy. Imagine what this man went through as he’s helplessly watching all this unfold. Oh my goodness. I am shaking with anger. These poor children had to watch their mother/aunt die in such a violent manner. This is unforgivable.

This is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. When I heard the report that he cut the line I gasped. HE DID WHAT???? That was unbelievably negligent and such a reckless thing to do. She lost her life and two little boys were injured and family's life is forever devastated.😭😭💔

Gross negligence does not begin to describe the horror this poor man and his son will relive every minute of their lives. He is right. Through his pain he's saving lives. 🙏🏻

I wasn’t expecting that the line was cut. I know nothing about parasailing, but that seems absurd.

As an Indian family living in US, I have a feeling that had there been people of some other ethnicity on the ride, the handling of situation and decisions from the boat driver would have been very different. No just because of race or color but also because the consequences and social response anticipated

I was horrified that he would even THINK about cutting it loose! I was caught in that type of weather myself while parasailing and it was horrifying. And you don't know what they are doing down there so you're just praying.

I’m so sorry for what you and your family had to go through just because of this horrible man.

Why TF would you cut a parasail loose just because it's pulling on the boat?! He cared more about his boat than their lives.

There are certain activities I just don't participate in. My husband says I'm a fraidy cat. I say I'm alive and healthy. So sorry for this family.

I was in a parasail with my mom in Hawaii when I was 12. It was very windy and the parasail line BROKE. We were DRAGGED across the ocean so far I couldn't see the boat anymore. I was terrified and thought I would die. I had really bad rope burns after that but thankfully no one was injured or killed. I'm to this day terrified of heights now. 😢 And by the way that company didn't even give us a REFUND.

I have parasailed in Hawaii before...that captain was absolutely wrong in so many ways. He didn't see that big black cloud rolling in? He didn't check weather? The company didn't check weather and cancel the trip (they do that all the time because of weather)? And then he insisted on cutting them loose and thinking the BRIDGE would help? This is appalling and unnecessary. So sorry for the life that was tragically lost. Captain and country 100% in the wrong.

Cutting the rope was his answer to saving their lives in uncontrollable winds?! I hope justice is served for this family.

This is absolutely horrifying. To watch his wife plummet to her death is living a nightmare. It sounds like the boat driver didn't know what he was doing. My heart goes out to the man and to the boys. 💔

I will NEVER parasail again due to a frightening incident where my husband saved my life. The weather conditions changed so the captain had to reel us in. As I landed on the back flat part of the boat, the assistant did make sure I was secured. It was wet and slippery and I proceeded to slide toward the back of the boat which would have landed me in the propellers. There was nothing to grab and I just kept sliding. My husband spotted me at the last minute, grabbed my ankle, and yanked me forward. I was one second from being fish food. Needless to say, dude got a terrible tongue lashing and we were refunded our money but I will NEVER do that again. I'm permanently traumatized.

My heart breaks for this family. I strongly advise against vacation parasailing as I had a very near miss myself - the captain underestimated the wind and I came so close to a hotel balcony I thought I was going to hit it. You are putting your life into the hands of a stranger who may not have good judgment or skill.

Important safety tip: If the captain looks like a burned out alcoholic or if the sky is turning dark and you hear thunder, abort the mission.

The scariest thing I've ever done in my was parasailing in Hawaii. A family mbr had booked it as a surprise and I felt obligated to do it but I was terrified the whole time until my feet touched the boat again and then I cried tears of relief that it was over and I was safe. I can't imagine what that poor woman and those boys were feeling when they were first caught up in the wind and then cut loose, and her husband having to watch it all. Awful.
