My Mom & some of my family sort of knows I'm a Furry & my dad doesn't. My Mom noticed my Beastars t shirt & thought it was cute & some of my family liked my shirt as well. My Dad doesn't pay any attention to anything so he doesn't really care

my dad found out when i was looking at some naughty shit on my laptop. i was 14 and the laptop still had a password that only my parents knew. the laptop was closed by accident and i debated destroying it for a few minutes before getting my dad to open it. he just kinda stared at the image on the screen before saying "Huh. Ive never seen that before." and giving me back the laptop

When I was about to tell my family I was a furry, I was extremely nervous becuase I knew they already had a bad view on them from the news. I knew it was just a hobby, and that I never had to tell them, however, my fursuit had just came in that day and knowing it was going to be impossible for me to hide and entire suit, plus the fact I was going to a furcon in the later months, I just built up courage and told them. I brought to them my fursuit head and told them then had to explain it all trying to explain how the media had it all wrong. To my surprise, they took it extremely well. The only question I dreaded and refused to answer was "How much did you spend on the suit". Something which I still refuse to talk to them about

I never used the word "furry" with my parents, but I did mention over the phone that I was trying to draw a protogen. At first they asked what a protogen was, then, after a few minutes of silence sprinkled with umms and hmms, next question they asked me just out of nowhere was what its (the protogen I was drawing) pronouns were, with them debating whether or not I was secretly gay. Oddly enough, the term furry never came up once during the whole discussion.

My dad also went to conventions before I was born, which considering the type of person he is, means that he could very well have become a furry if he had gotten into that stuff.

So one day i got sharona and i had to spend a week at home, and during that week i discovered the furry fandom, and i was immediately interested. but i was too afraid to tell my parents, so one day i was at my mum's house and wanted to tell her I was a furry but my brain said "Don't do it, its game over forever" . So i sent her a message and hoped for the best and she was glad to hear I'm discovering more about myself and asked me questions like "do you have an OC made yet?" and i felt like i had more trust with my mum, so when i told her on messages i was also Bi (because i was too scared to tell her in person) i went out to the park and when i got back she had written me a note, i forgot what it said but it was about how i should be me and should not be afraid to be open to myself for who I am.

My dad knows that I'm a furry, and my mum doesn't. I just randomly blurted out in the car, "have you heard of furries?" and to my knowledge he paused for like 5 seconds (which felt like 20 million years) and he said "I think i knew someone who was had a furry avatar in a game that I played (tf2)" and I was like "oh."

I told my Dad when it came up in conversation, he seemed completely fine with it. My whole family & close friends know & are generally supportive :)

When I got to tell my aunt about it after she asked me she said only three things...
Aunt: "Are you hurting anyone?"
Me: "No"

My family kinda knows I'm a Furry, they know I'm super into the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres and I love species like The Skaven from Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar but they don't know much besides that.
