Police said Monday they believe a body found by a dive team in a California lake is that of Kiely Rodni. During a news conference, authorities said a positive identification has not been made and the investigation is still ongoing.

The dive team, Adventures with Purpose, said a car with Rodni’s body inside was found upside down in 14 feet of water in Prosser Lake, only a few hundred yards away from the campground. Police have not confirmed if Rodni’s body has been located. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said it was contacted by the dive team and is investigating along with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, FBI and allied agencies.

Team of amateurs?? Over a dozen cold cases solved and she describes them as amateurs? What a shame

Excuses, excuses, is what I'm hearing. Adventures With a Purpose found the car in 35 MINUTES. She was right under the noses of law enforcement the whole time.

Not amateurs, experts prayers for the family! 🙏🏼

Why are AWP being labeled amateurs?smh. Considering where the authorities had previously searched, amassing 20k hours of search time, this was well and truly on its way to being categorised as a cold case if not for AWP.

They are not amateurs. They are professional. They have done what most of the group of volunteers didn’t. Although grateful for their efforts, AWP have a prescribed protocol they follow that works.

I think someone needs to clarify the statements about how much experience AWP truly has. While the media claims they've had a limited amount of experience finding only (their word not mine) 23 cars so far closing out cold cases they forgot what these amazing men did prior to their first case of finding a car with human remains in it. They went around the country searching bodies of water for vehicles in order to clean up the environment. They haven't found two dozen vehicles they've found hundreds! They were working on a body of water identifying cars that were in a lake that they on their own dime would remove after car thieves or other people disposed of in bodies of water. They were pulling one vehicle up with a tow truck when they happened upon human remains of a long since missing person. Prior to their time of providing community service they had EXTENSIVE experience diving so no these are not amateurs. While the sheriff's department might search for one vehicle a year using only basic side scan sonar AWP uses cutting edge equipment that none of you taxpayers/critics would ever agree to pay for and provide your local agencies. For anyone that thinks the police aren't competent based on AWP's discovery in less than an hour needs to pull your head out of your a**es and try using the pi** poor sonar that law enforcement has to use and take a look at how much better AWP's sonar is. Now that might sound like I'm downplaying AWP's tremendous skills in finding her car in less than an hour and that's not what I'm wanting to do here. I'm just saying they've got sonar that's so high definition that they're able to see a body lying on the bottom of deep, dark, murky water and be able to tell you which way the body is lying and you can see it in a way you wouldn't believe. I hope anyone that's reading this has been able to make sense of my rambling writing and can forgive me as I've been up for nearly 48 hours with a sick little one. Normally i wouldn't be all over the place and my grammar and punctuation is horrendous tonight but I just felt compelled to speak out both for AWP and law enforcement. I think neither was given proper credit for all of the work they've done and will continue to do.

The amateurs are the law enforcement who did the search. Not the Adventures For A Purpose Team. They’re the consummate professionals bar none! People need to stop referring to them as amateurs. SMH

Instead of pointing fingers, it's more productive for the sake of the community that the police look into how they can improve their driving skills. Perhaps get additional training by this volunteer dive team.

People who question law officials on :HOW WAS THIS CAR MISSED, Please folks, watch some of the coverage videos of this recovery, you ( people watching ) cannot seen the car upside down. we you see the A.W.P. video, you People questioning, can't say definitely THERE IS A CAR . A.W.P. knows what a upside, sideways or right side up car looks like. A.W.P. is trained thru experience of what these look like. Give them A.W.P. support, they are non profit to familys to find loved ones.

Stop with the water level was lower nonsense. AWP would have found that car 100 feet under water. They are experts.

Police may get a few weekend seminars on using sonar, these guy have thousands of hours of experience and know down to a tenth of mile per hour that they must search or the image is not going to show properly. I don't remember the numbers but it is like 2.5_2.9mph or image is not reliable. They are experts at what the do.

They should have had her dental records on hand and been able to make a positive identification quickly. Not a very organized police department.

You need to watch what you call volunteer groups.

They need to figure out how long the car/body has been in the lake. We still don’t have all the answers. The obvious one is that she accidentally drove into the lake, but what if she was raped and murdered and someone rigged her car to go into the lake to make it look like an accident after the fact?

There. Not amateurs if it wasn’t for them she wouldn’t have been found,

Poor girl
She made a bad decision and it was a tragic outcome.
