Consider that most people spend about $70 per week if not more on gas, this is significantly less expensive. Nice break down, thanks for the vid!

I have the wall charger too. However, mine is wired to deliver 12 KW or 44 MPH to my Tesla Model 3 Performance. Our electricity is only $0.11 per KWH no matter what time of day it is here in NC. I only spent $29 to charge my car for the month of May.

Thanks for sharing. The app makes it real easy to see the breakdown. Not only is is cheaper than gas but also way more convenient than stopping at gas stations. That Tesla charger looks dope btw

You can set up charging times in the cars UI. Plug it up, it won’t charge until the time you set. Then, you’ll never need to charge during costly time periods. Or, move out of states like California and enjoy cheap power at all times of the day and year.

Great video. I ordered myself and my wife Model Ys and I’m anxious over what our what our electric bill is going to look like. I currently have solar panels at my home and had my solar company do an analysis of my home again. They suggested another 19 panels to support the charging of both vehicles. We have 21 panels already. Seems excessive to me. Going to charge as is for now and if it gets too expensive I may need to add the additional solar panels. I had my electrician install a Wall Connector so I’m set there also. My panel is 85 ft from my garage so it cost me $1200 to have it installed. Hopefully I can get some sort of rebate in the future to offset the cost.

yup, thanks for breakdown.. 120V gives about 3-5miles/hour of charge, vs 30miles/hour on 240V @32A (wall charger or NEMA 14-50 w/ the portable charger adapter). Overnight the Y could get about +60miles, enough for daily short driving...

costs: Tesla is about 250-300Wh/mile driving, so 1000 miles per month, is about 250-300KWH. Add like 5-10% for charge overhead, so.. about 275-330KWH/month, per EV, assuming 1000miles (12k/year avg)
At off-peak 20c/kwh (multiple your own electricity rate), that is $55-65/month.
vs good gas car, 28mpg, is almost 36gallons... @$4.50/gal, that is $160!!
EV can be over $100/mo EACH car savings vs gas ! and, no visits to gas station.. full every morning!

I got my 1st EV around New Years taking advantage of some Tesla incentives- I purchased a Model 3P. I live in a northern climate Toledo OH- I drive about 1000mi / mo- (mostly Freeway) I Ave. about 320 WH per Mi. I park outside- and charge on Level 1 (Not Ideal)- but an upgrade will cost me a LOT more than $500- like 10X. The only thing plugged into this meter is the Tesla and a fridge- (costs .75-.90/mo). My 1st bill came in Feb and was about $110 at which time I realized that charging at home was costing about the same as using my old ICE car- A 2010 Honda Fit. And I began charging the Tesla at free public charging stations, and using my old car again when the Tesla was charging (A LOT). In March I got another surprise-- another high electric bill an extra $40 this time- and I had already stopped charging at home- these were just carry over charges from Jan. For comparison I used about 575KWH and my rate was only 6.3 cents- if my memory is correct. Considering a Supercharge costs about $35 to go about 150Mi with limited heat- and I could go about 350 in the Fit comfortably for about $25-30. I'm Keeping my Fit- the Tesla's future however, is uncertain. The Tesla is great if you never think about what it costs you.

🔌I like the idea of the new Aptera 1000-mile range vehicle out of Carlsbad California that can charge 150 miles overnight using 120-volt and up to 40-miles of range per day using its onboard solar panels during sunny days. Not bad for a vehicle starting at $25, 900.🔌

I am confused with your numbers… if you used 463 kWh at $0.21 per kWh, wouldn’t that come to $97 (463 times 0.22)?
Thanks for the video, and I welcome your reply.

I commute to work 900 miles a week, and spend about $800 a month on gas since I'm in California, I think I might need to make the switch to a tesla, Basically, the amount I spend on gas will pay for this car minus the oil change every month, Maintenence I also have solar panels so this is a no brainer for me

I use the exact same electric company. We can’t be that far away from each other. I also have a Tesla. I have used two different companies to install solar in my home. I started with 23 panels and I’m adding 10 more to cover the cost of charging the Tesla. If I could recommend a solar company, I’d be glad to do so. Plus, I get a referral bonus. Let me know.

Why are you not using the 20amp adapter, rather than the 15amp? Also why not charge at 48amps on the Tesla charger?

If you had the dual motor or performance, it would charge even faster on 240v.

I looked at my charging cost on the app. I have a 3 and I charge about once a week. I see a 330 bill so is that a direct charge or showing me the electric bill addition?
