Today I'm going to discuss how much it costs to produce animation. If you have a Run Time, a Production Time, a Quota and a Salary, you can figure this out pretty easily! That being said, it isn't cheap!

Depends on what quality of animation we're talking about. 3D? 2D? Flash? Change the variables to be in a different country like India. Then you can get a 70 minute 2D animated film in 6 months for $250k at say the animation like Frosty the Snowman. Or you can do $50k for half that quality. Depends what kind of a budget you can get and what you'll be happy with .

This was very useful. I'd love to figure out how much it would cost to hire the animators if the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie was made today, with the same combination of traditional animation and computer animation.

It also depends on how complex the animation is. Anime is obviously much harder than cartoons to animate since humans have complex anatomy. By the way you have not idea how much you helped me.

But what is the cost of??? Do you have to pay for the program? The amount of hiring people? Cuz story line and animating I so in my own time but I don't have any money required? Is it all just about paying others? So can't it just be free if someone works on it in their own time?

Sorry if this a dumb question but isn’t most 2d animation operating with minimum of 12 frames per sec? So the animators would have to be creating 360 frames per week at 30 seconds for 52 weeks times the 11 years? Or if you broke down the run time further you’d have to multiple the 17, 280 seconds times the minimum 12 frames a sec? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thank you again

I've got questions, Which I'm late to ask but.
Is less animation per week, more work or less work?
5 seconds a week is much or very little?

Just messing with numbers, only focusing on RunT ProdT FrQuota.
Why is 5 seconds a week in my calculation telling me my years are long, Rounding up to 20ish years. Yet 30 seconds Is giving only 1 or 2, years how you round up.

Is more animation a week more work, 5 vs 60 seconds per week?

I do videography and I deal with the same thing
