I would like to point you towards an American scientist from back in 1860's. His name is Nathan stubblefield, he had some really interesting work to do with original radios (not many people know that radio is older then thought -AM radio mind you). He used a telephone receiver and a could set up within the ground, like the original capanadze device. Bury a conductor into the ground and have a receiver for radio signals, allow both to be introduced jato the circuit and you have current from the ground and voltage from the air.

I have talked with Ionpowergroup last year, they are moving towards the aerostats of Hermann Plauson and away from their pole and wire atmospheric collection. I have also talked with Patrick Kelly, Eric Dollard, John Hutchinson and Ken Wheeler, Professor Dr. Konstantin Meyl, and many others.

Sir, what do you think about this, putting a low current ac signal through the wire to help move smaller charges in the wire so as to collect more energy? Kind of like priming a pump? Maybe, a super high frequency, but very low energy could be used. It might do nothing, but I bet it does matter and works better that way.

Atmospheric electricity is static electricity. You might be able to harness lot of static electricity with this experiment. Take a PVC pipe, insert copper coil inside the PVC pipe in a way it properly sticks to the walls inside the PVC pipe. Connect LED bulb, full bridge rectifier and capacitor to copper coil at wire coming out of both ends of copper coil from PVC pipe to complete the circuit. Now rub the PVC pipe with silk cloth or nylon cloth to produce static electricity. See if the LED lights up. If LED lights up, experiment is a success.

Any voltage gradient in the atmosphere (or anywhere else, for that matter) is of little practical use if you can't draw any significant current from a harnessing system. All you will do is cause the electrostatic field to distort, so if, for instance, you connect an electrode at 100 metres in the air and connect the other end to any current drawing device at ground level, you will just cause the electrostatic potential at the electrode to drop to zero volts with respect to the ground. Of course, if you do this during a lightning storm you'll probably blow up your equipment on the ground and possibly die. But you will have harnessed about $100 (correction $6 or 7) worth of lightning energy in doing so. That's at today's commercial value of electrical energy from traditional sources.
Calculation and correction added: That's 30 thousand amps × 100 million volts = 3 000 000 000 000 watts, or 3 000 000 000 kilowatts. But it only lasts about 30 micro seconds (apparantly), so that's only 3 000 000 000 × 30 ÷ 1 000 000. = 90 000 kilowatt-seconds, or 25 kilowatt-hours (divide 90 000 kilowatt-seconds by 3 600). I pay about £0.17 per kwh, so that's £4.25, or about $6 or 7 dollars.
Please tell me if I've got my calculations wrong. They're all big numbers until you get to the final bill.

if its DC and at many KVolts forst you need to good kv insulator and a way getting you DC to AC so you can step the ultra high impedance down to a lower voltage with more current. so here is how you do this 1 a Tesla coil on top of a ground stake 2 then on top of that a wind mill type fun that makes and brakes the electrical circuit when the wind blows you AC pulse for the Tesla coil. 3 at its base, the low voltage AC is taped off, 4 at the other end of a long wire at the very top a barrage balloon made of tin foil or any conductive foil . If all goes well you  will get some free electricity.from a bridge rectifier circuit & capacitor.
