Len Barry was an integral part of the early Philadelphia soul scene. He worked with (and wrote songs with) Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, and the great producer Bobby Eli. He was involved in the formation of the great Philly soul (TSOP) house band MFSB.

The song does have a real motown feel to it, your right Harry.

There was tons of "Blue-eyed" soul back in the day. This guy even wrote songs with Gamble & Huff.

I went to High School in the late '60's. The girls were not allowed to wear pants and the dresses had to reach the knees. Guys wore cords, mostly bell bottoms. Jeans were around for guys, but were not as common as today.

Glad you reacted to Len Barry, another blue-eyed soul legend. Thanks, Harri.

You know you're in the 1960s when there's a Go Go Dancer on stage.

He was also the lead singer of The Dovells

I am most familiar with Len Barry as the lead singer with the group the Dovells in the 50's. They had the hits "Bristol Stomp", "Hully Gully Baby" & "You Can't Sit Down". When he went solo in the mid 60's he recorded "1-2-3", "Like A Baby" & "I Struck It Rich".

Had earlier hits with The Dovells. Len ended up becoming a bartender and Philly dj, Hy Lit, was his brotherinlaw.

A real feel good song. I was 10 when this came out. Wow, go go dancers and people doing the jerk and the pony!
