Anyone else notice the copper pipe is in the shape of an R to represent Ridgid?

So I dont understand why pipes split when they freeze but if you freeze them with this they dont?

Normally hot water freezes faster than cold water. Why not in this case?

Or spend $600 on a comparable unit that you only need to add CO² to.
