There’s also sylvally’s ability “RKS system” which is named after Arceus. It’s not “RCS system” for a reason. A soft “c” sound is the Japanese pronunciation but specifically because they didn’t want the god of Pokémon to have “arse” in its name they changed it to a hard “c” in English. This is reflected in RKS system’s Japanese name “AR system” which is a pun on arceus with a soft “c” ( ARsys-tem)

Well it was pronounced arseus with a soft c until gamefreak realized afterwords because tons of small british children thought it was really funny god was called arse so ever since theyve HARD retconned and pushed for the hard c instead in every piece of media

literally only english (and german but that's because they don't have soft Cs) says it with a hard c, and even then only in the anime dub lmao. the official way to say it is still with a soft c
also japanese does it with a soft c sound, french does it with a soft c sound, spanish too, etc. all with a soft c. as for the RKS system, in most languages it's called alpha system.

In Spanish it is called "Móvil Arceus", which translates to "Arceus Mobile". A can still say Arseus, eat my Spanish dirt XD

I call it Ar-kay-us, because it's name comes from Archaic (meaning great mystery) and Deus (Latin for God)

C only becomes S when followed by E. It will be Arse phone if its spelled like this, "Arce"

It's pronounced Ar-SEE-us in the Japanese Pronunciation. Which is the original version. The phone was likely localized for American pronunciation.

As far as I recall, the first time Arceus was pronounced in english media was in Pokemon Battle Revolution, as it was in the game's files, which was released long before Arceus itself was even revealed/released to JP audiences, and there it was Ar-see-iss.(Don't know when the anouncer's line was recorded in comparison to the english version of the arceus movie dialogue though)

I say it with a soft C just cuz it rolls off the tongue better, not cuz of what came first, or was PUBLICLY revealed first, was said most recently, etc.
