To Anyone who doesn't know, in 1963 when JFK was Assassinated, Queen Elizabeth II gave the United States 1 Acre of land within the british city of runnymede, as it's purpose is to make a Memorial of JFK. Despite it Being under british law, it's technically American Territory, Meaning perhaps they have land in Europe.

--so does this mean america colonized the brits??--

Some reasons are:

The United States shares land borders with Canada and Mexico and maritime borders with several countries.

* **Land Borders:**
* **Canada:** The longest international border in the world, spanning over 5, 525 miles. Established through a series of treaties, including the Treaty of Paris (1783), Jay Treaty (1794), Treaty of 1818, Webster-Ashburton Treaty (1842), and the Oregon Treaty (1846).
* **Mexico:** Approximately 1, 954 miles long, primarily defined by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848) and the Gadsden Purchase (1853).

* **Maritime Borders:**
* **Canada:** Disputed in some areas, particularly in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
* **Mexico:** In the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, defined by treaties and international law.
* **Cuba:** In the Gulf of Mexico, defined by a 1977 maritime boundary agreement.
* **Bahamas:** In the Atlantic Ocean.
* **Russia:** In the Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean, defined by a 1990 agreement (though not fully ratified by Russia).
* **Other Countries:** Maritime borders with various countries in the Caribbean and Pacific, largely determined by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

**How Maritime Borders are Determined:**

* **Territorial Sea:** Extends 12 nautical miles from the baseline (usually the low-water line along the coast). Within this zone, the coastal state has full sovereignty.
* **Contiguous Zone:** Extends 24 nautical miles from the baseline. The coastal state can exercise control necessary to prevent and punish infringements of its customs, fiscal, immigration, or sanitary laws and regulations within its territory or territorial sea.
* **Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ):** Extends 200 nautical miles from the baseline. Within this zone, the coastal state has sovereign rights for exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources, whether living or non-living, of the seabed and subsoil and the superjacent waters.

**Key Points:**

* **UNCLOS:** The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is the primary framework for determining maritime boundaries.
* **Disputes:** Maritime boundaries can be subject to disputes, often resolved through negotiation, arbitration, or international court rulings.
* **Economic Importance:** Maritime borders are crucial for countries, as they control access to valuable resources like fish, minerals, and energy.

I hope this explanation provides a good overview of the United States' borders!

* **Land Borders:** Shares a lengthy land border with China, Mongolia, North Korea, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Norway. These borders were largely established through historical treaties and agreements following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
* **Maritime Borders:** Borders the Arctic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and Black Sea, with maritime borders with various countries, including Japan, the United States, and several European nations. These borders are determined by international law, primarily the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

* **United Kingdom:**
* **Land Border:** Shares a land border with the Republic of Ireland. This border has a complex history, dating back centuries.
* **Maritime Borders:** Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, North Sea, and Irish Sea, with maritime borders with Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and other neighboring countries.

* **Mexico:**
* **Land Borders:** Shares a land border with the United States to the north and Guatemala and Belize to the south. These borders were primarily established through treaties, including the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848) and the Gadsden Purchase (1853).
* **Maritime Borders:** Borders the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, with maritime borders with the United States, Guatemala, Belize, and Cuba.

* **Canada:**
* **Land Borders:** Shares the longest international border in the world with the United States. This border was established through a series of treaties, including the Treaty of Paris (1783), Jay Treaty (1794), Treaty of 1818, Webster-Ashburton Treaty (1842), and the Oregon Treaty (1846).
* **Maritime Borders:** Borders the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and Arctic Ocean, with maritime borders with the United States, Greenland, Denmark, and France.

**Regarding the UK and JFK:**

* **JFK's Impact on UK-US Relations:** President John F. Kennedy played a significant role in strengthening the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. However, his presidency did not directly impact the UK's land border with Ireland.

I hope this explanation is helpful!

Explanation: The only "American land" in the UK is a small plot at Runnymede, England, which is considered US soil because it was gifted by the British government to the United States to build a memorial dedicated to President John F. Kennedy, essentially creating a tiny piece of American territory within the UK; this was done to symbolize the special relationship between the two nations.
Key points about this "American land":
Location: The land is situated at Runnymede, a historically significant site where the Magna Carta was signed.
Reason for gifting: The land was given specifically to build the John F. Kennedy Memorial, which stands on American soil within the UK.
Significance: This act signifies the close ties between the US and the UK.

Turkey" doesn't actually "hate" Christmas, but because Turkey is predominantly Muslim, Christmas is not a widely celebrated holiday in the country, and the association of "turkey" as the Christmas dinner centerpiece can be seen as a somewhat ironic or uncomfortable connection for many Turks due to their religious beliefs.
Key points to understand this:
Religious reasons:
Turkey is a Muslim-majority country, so Christmas, a Christian holiday, is not a major celebration there.
Cultural perception:
While some people in Turkey might celebrate Christmas privately, the broader cultural focus is on New Year's celebrations.
"Turkey" as a food:
In many Western countries, "turkey" is the traditional Christmas dinner meat, which can feel strange for people from Turkey who don't celebrate Christmas in the same way.
