This is going to be a beautiful movie. Cinematography reminds me a little of the old Merchant Ivory films.

In spite of my earlier comments or replies to others I look forward to seeing the film. Vicky Krieps gives a captivating performance, carrying a viewer with such sensibilities as myself, so as not to diminish one's enjoyment. In addition credit must be given to the cinematography for which German seems to fit hand in glove.

I saw it today and really enjoyed it. A slow-burn character piece. If I can get away from work for a couple of hours I will go again on Friday afternoon, because I think I will get more from a second viewing (and I have a monthly cinema card, so might as well make use of it).

love her look, not super sure about the portrayal of her person. To my knowledge she NEVER cut her hair and there is no evidence to support she had any lovers. I also find it very hard to believe that she would say the "a lion doesn't loose sleep" quote as she was quite sympathetic to the common people, advocated for Hungarian rights and often visited (and funded) hospitals to help and console the sick.. hm.

Why is there suddenly so much interest in Sisi? This film and the Netflix series are released this year and there was a German miniseries last year. Also there's going to be released a new German-Austrian-Swiss film called Sisi & I next year. What's the occasion?
