How Has Nobody Done This Before?

This seems so obvious now, but it's a pretty great idea.

It's a really cool idea! And the way it is designed just makes it convenient for any maintenance/replacement needed. I've got to say, i'm impressed with how simple and effective it is. Solid 10

Even if it doesn't improve cable management as such, being able to easily get at the connectors when say adding a hard drive or any upgrade requiring power cable, so much easier than having to dig about or doing a full rewire. I'm for it, I'm also for motherboard connectors being on the backside. Clean as hell builds!

Dawid's gotta be the most entertaining tech youtuber I watch. Every video is a delight start to finish

I have an "original" RM850 power supply. Been great for me and the modularity is amazing,

I bought one of these on accident for a lab computer. Was pleasantly surprised when it still fit just fine and was easy to cable manage in the lancool 215 we have as a standard.

we tested the 750, 850 and 1000W models and yes they are good power supplies and the swift are ATX 3, which by the way was also a challenge to test.
Even in some older cases, it becomes a really interesting feature.

Just got this with the corsair 4000d. So much easier to work with and added/removing cables made this decision for me. As long as you dont have a radical case or psu placement, this can definitely work for you.

honestly Dawid's pronunciation of LINODE will never get old xD

I just put my 2nd and newest build together with a RM1000X shift inside a Define 7 and it fit perfectly. Now just need to wait for Corsair to make the better cables but build turned out great! PSU with cables coming out the side made it so much easier.

I heard “Solid panel on the left hand side, ” and now I have that “Pass the Dutchie” song stuck in my head. Going to keep this SWIFT style PSU in mind for my next build! Swift works too btw given the time it saves.

With good access to the ports on PSU, other possible improvements:
1. L-shaped connectors on the power cables that connect to the PSU side so that the protrusion is minimal and doesn't hit the side panel of chasis
2. Due above, the connector ports on PSU should be rotated 90-deg to facilitate the way the cables will bend left/right. The position of the connector ports can be optimized in a way to prevent obstruction between the installed cables
3. Motherboard ATX power connector ports should be facing sideways instead of upwards which could improve cable routing effectiveness and aesthetics

Your comment about not being able to use existing cables gave me flashbacks, any modular PSUs I get use the cables they came with only, it means no disasters and no faffing around with pins which is just kind of terrifying every time.

I definitely think there are cases where this will definitely be handy. But definitely not for every build.

hopped on your mc server and built a house. seems like its gonna be a pretty chill server and it runs great and its very snappy, thanks to linode!

I don't understand why the cables don't have angled connectors. Considering the cramped space that's available for this even in huge cases, angled connectors to avoid needing to crush the cables in-between the power supply and side panel so much seems obvious.

It's good to see some innovation in the PSU space. I think this will work great with some ITX cases where you really don't have a lot of room, and this allows you to route cables in an unconventional way.

Just installed mine. Works great in Corsair 4000d Airflow case. I'm surprised you didn't touch on the fact this is an ATX3.0 Certified unit too.

Thanks a lot. I've looking all over if it will fit in my 210mm wide case. Looks like it will. Shift is the only A+ tier PSU available in my country.
