There’s no other scenes that nailed Kubo’s style on this level. Drastic contrast of black and white in this scene was perfectly executed with smooth animation

According to Kubo this was how the fight was originally supposed to be like in the 2004 anime, Hopefully after Tybw they do a full remake of the previous arcs and uncensored with no fillers

Even to this day I feel like this fight was one of the best in action anime

People would be talking about the animation, but for me the real key point of the fight is on 0:33. Every battle for Ichigo is the same, the first encounter with the villain he gets demolished and gets into despair and sadness, then after he learns more about his true power, he improves. in the rematch he faces despair again, but his inner power (zangetsu/white) comes and save him, proving the real power of his zanpakuto. Ichigo´s power is the power to break throught destiny as a striking blade, and you can actually see it here with the imagery of his strike as the moon (zangetsu). It looks like Ichigo was gonna lose, but at the end he awakens HIS power and defeats Ulquiorra (destroying destiny) and protecting everyone (This patter repeats with Yhwach) Actually this history is full of this metaphors and thats why I like Tite Kubo so much as a writer!
