I currently give beginner wig styling lectures at cons in my country and this is something I tell about! I go over the "anatomy" of a wig. It's something that never really occured to me that people wouldn't know, as I've been cosplaying for almost 10 years with special interest in wigs specifically. I think it's important to really start at the very basics as useful information like this can easily be overlooked!

This is so funny 🤣. I think I only knew how the clips work because I have bras that have similar clips for the shoulder straps.

As someone a little newer to the wig game, I'm sorry it took you so long to realize that. When I first learned that and securing it with Bobby pins they almost became comfortable yet way too warm hats lmaooo

I only cosplayed for about three years when I was a teenager and I will tell you that no matter how you clip them in, they will wiggle themselves free eventually. I think I figured this out because at the time I still acknowledged having chesticles and compared it to a bra.

I knew this. It's how I tighten wigs for my friends. For myself, I always put the clips together, especially for long, heavy wigs. It's just easier that way.
