La Divina never lost her voice. Just a little change occasioned by a disease that she treated later of the retirement. In the 70s the known voice was still there. Wonderful!

I particularly enjoy listening to her teaching Cortigiani and Eri tu.... i listened to other master classes - Pavarotti and the younger generation like for example Joyce DiDonato, but none ever had such deep understanding of the entire opera, of all roles and the music and the composers ❤️ Kind regards, Dana

Maria never understood her immense and complexe voice, otherwise she would have never retired!!! Maria never realized the marvelous miracle that God did in her voice!!!! Her destiny, I think, was to enjoy and to make us enjoy all kind of repertoire, including her three voices, but Maria thought that her destiny was only bel canto, and that was the mistake. There was a time for E flats and all kind of coloratura!!!! But there was a time for another repertoire!!!! She tried a little French repertoire which she did superbly!!!! and a little of Mozart and Beethoven, which she did superbly also!!!! The magnificent Oberon aria!!! The magnificent Carmen she recorded, etcc, but she forgot the magnificent mezzo repertoire and the contralto repertoire. She forgot doing lieders, oh my God, immagine Maria singing lieders, singing all that repertoire of lieders whith that immense voice which could have given tremendous meanings to each words of them!!!! Maria forgot the russian she went to Russia invited for the Tchaikovsky Competition, she could have tried the russian repertoire be she didn't want to realized, may be she couldn't believe her destiny was immense and great, that she just wanted to believe she was a normal human being, when we know she was not....she was a The miracle is still between us thanks to all this recordings and so many that one day we will be able to God bless you Maria, thank you for loving us with your

One of the great mysteries is how she sounded so breathtaking in her Juilliard classes but a mere year later, at the opening of the farewell tour, her voice was in much rougher condition.
