One of my favorite droppers off a big bushy dry in the summer or drop behind a large stonefly nymph in the winter & spring. Fishing small water? Use it as the lead fly and drop a Partridge & Orange/Yellow off the end.

I know exactly what you mean! When I first saw Matt Grobert use this technique for producing a pheasant tail abdomen on another fly (his Pumpkinhead Midge) I thought for sure it would come undone. So after we were done with the shoot I did my best to pick at and destroy the fly he had just tied, after all what are friends for. I didn't have much luck. The wire counter wrapped around the pheasant tail makes for a really durable fly. His method is also very fast. I'd urge you to give it a try.

Nothing like a good soft hackle nymph dead drifted, lovely pattern

Like that you showed how to anchor the peacock herl the way you did instead of twisting the herl or putting it in a loop.  This is much easier and just as good.  Thanks.

Beautiful pattern, effective abdomen techniques very strong. This is a good nymph pattern. Really nice job .

Nice job on a fly that just about every fly fisher has has a few of, if not a LOT of, in their  box!

Great fly. If you can't catch fish with this pattern, you've got a problem!

Love the production quality of the video. Video looks great and could not be more concisely informative. Very nice.

Why do you like the Dai-Riki hooks so much?  Are you sponsored by them/they give you free hooks etc?

Great video! But the pheasant tail doesn't come lose? It looks like the copper wire could easily come lose after a few trout.

Did you say it's one of his go-to "winner" patterns, or "winter" patterns? Thanks!
