I recently saw a documentry about him and apparently he used to have tears in his eyes after performing these songs...Now that's getting it

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like you’re heart is breaking into pieces when listening to this song?
It’s beautiful, but sad at the same time.

if you just sit and relax in your armchair with the headphones on and your eyes shut listening to this kind of music you are transported to another time when things were at a much gentler pace of life. aah sheer bliss

I really love the romanticism and class that past generations had, this kind of songs deliver a warming vibe.

A true talent, stolen away by a parachute bomb dropped by the Luftwaffe. Both him and Glenn Miller never survived to see their music become timeless. unfortunate

This is a beautiful song with lovely, true words which are so true of what I felt and still feel for my precious husband, Steve. He died of cancer, but I feel him near me always, he is the only man I ever loved and love him still, always will. He is all the good things rolled into one and he loved me, I was loved by an angel. That was Steve on earth and now in Heaven. A lovely, Angel, precious man. June Van Orman

You're my everything underneath the sun
You're my everything rolled up into one
You're my only dream, my only real reality
You're my idea of a perfect personality

You're my everything, everything i need
You're the song i sing and the book i read
You're a way beyond belief and just to make it brief
You're my winter, summer, spring, my everything
You're my everything underneath the sun
You're my everything rolled up into one
You're my only dream, my only real reality
You're my idea of a perfect personality

You're my everything, everything i need
You're the song i sing and the book i read
You're a way beyond belief and just to make it brief
You're my winter, summer, spring, my everything
You're a way beyond the belief and just to make it brief
You're my winter, summer, spring, my everything

I enjoy that song so much. It is so soft and dreamy. Al Bowlly has such a brilliant voice. It must be nice to listen his records on a real gramophone!

I just want to dance with someone and forget about the world

THIS WAS THE MUSIC THAT WAS THE KEY TO DATING! THE GUY CAME DRESSED IN A TAILORED SUIT, CORSAGE IN HAND, SMELLED GOOD (SHAVING LOTION), THE GAL WAS ALL DOLLED UP. CLOSE CONTACT DANCING, ROMANTIC MUSIC, LED TO LASTING ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS. THIS WAS THE FORMULA, BECAUSE NO STEPS TO COURTING WERE SKIPPED OVER. NO "HOOK-UPS"--JUST SLOWLY GETTING TO KNOW SOMEONE IN A ROMANTIC SETTING. AS A KID, I PLAYED DRESS-UP WITH MY MOM'S 30'S EVENING GOWNS AND DANCE SHOES. WISHING I HAD LIVED IN THAT TIME.

My opinion too! Greatest dance band singer who's ever lived - lost Al way too early.

Al was England's answer to Bing Crosby, but created a vocal sound that is very much unique to him

This is one of those songs where I really notice what incredibly exquisite diction Al had. He never sounded stiff or formal, but every word was enunciated with such perfect elegance and precision. Oh, and those high notes! Swoon, indeed.

I never knew that this singer existed; I would never deny anyone the right to hear a recording if it brings back pleasant memories.

I've loved Bing Crosby all of my 60+ years. When I "discovered" Al Bowlly relatively recently, Bing moved down, along with other crooners. It's the emotion he brings to all of the lyrics~most definitely heartfelt. Bing and others are wonderfully stylish, but I never feel as if they're singing to me. The two that do seem to have that something extra are Al Bowlly and~I know you'll laugh~Hoagy Carmichael. I can close my eyes and feel that *I* am being sung to. No wonder Al was a "heartthrob"!
