Thyatira: The Apostate Church | The 7 Churches of Revelation | Episode 5 | Lineage

Thyatira - the fourth of the seven Churches of Revelation is located in the modern city of Akhisar. It would have been a particularly hard place to maintain ones Christian faith. It was a manufacturing city, known for its trade unions and the description of the church is arguable worse than Pergamos. After compromise comes apostasy and corruption, but in the midst of this bleak outlook there is still strong hope in this message!

If Thyateira people now knew the Revelation, I bet at least % 5 of the town would convert to Christianity.Revelation is so mysterious and deep . The most interesting thing is that the first part of the Bible I read was about Jezebel since I am from Thyatira.

Recently, my Church are doing scripture reading series on the "Seven Churches of Asia Minor" like Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodecia in the Book of Revelations.

When my Pastor talked about the "Church of Thyatira" where this wealthy and industrious city's citizens did their community and volunteer work, it had a dark secret, a False Prophet named Jezabel whom corrupted their followers.

Some Christian Denominations like Jehovah's Witnesses, Church of God, and some fundamentalist Mormon sects could fit the description of modern day Jezabels and Thyatira.

In some ways, the Roman Catholic Church could be interpreted as a Thyatira due to its reluctance to take responsibility for the crimes and atrocities they committed against their own people, notably Native Canadians whom suffered abuse in their hands during the Residential School era as they were abused or killed if they tried to practice their own culture (think about the Kamloops residential school as an example), the Duplessis Orphans in Quebec, the sex abuse scandals, banning women from serving in the Clergy and prohibit Priests from getting married, etc.
