Ted Nolan has barely worked in the NHL after winning its Coach of the Year award in 1997. Despite a sometimes turbulent relationship with those in the league, Nolan believes he should be coaching in the NHL. So why is he on the outside, looking in? I hate how they same that theirs no racism in hockey, but this just proves it otherwise. On the other hand this was a great video. Him putting in his headdress sent chills up me. It's a great honor to be given that special sacred thing. As a native american, Ted makes me proud ✊🏽

Just finished reading Ted Nolans new book and he makes reference to this video on pg. 315..enjoyed reading his story and he was a pioneer in the white world of hockey..not the best place to be but he persevered and suffered for it..never watched hockey but I always loved Ted Nolan..❤

I just read his autobiographical book Life in Two Worlds: A Coach's Journey from the Reserve to the NHL and Back - Ted Nolan tells of his childhood in a low income large family on a reserve in Ontario. How he got his start playing competitive hockey and his fight to be an NHL player.

In it he speaks of the racism he faced, the challenges he over came and those he did not. His love of family and of his heritage was dominant in his decision making. That he was successful as a coach in spite of his detractors is a source of inspiration for all.

He founded The Ted Nolan Foundation to help Indigenous youth to pursue academic growth. He also founded 3 Nolans with Jordan and his other son Brandon, also a former NHLer. The goal of 3 Nolans is to help Indigenous youth with hockey and life skills.

I was so inspired and encouraged by him when I was younger to only have this heroes name dragged through the mud by baseless speculation. Always knew racism was playing it’s role. One of the first examples of systemic upperclass racism I can remember witnessing as a kid.

If it weren't for the fact that I think Sheldon Keefe is a great coach already, I'd be happy to see Nolan coaching the leafs.

2021 - and we still have to share these stories :( - will the league actually do something? Cause truly he prepared the Sabers for Lindy Ruff - Guess who careers blossomed? I wonder if Lindy even acknowledge that Nolan was the reason of their and his success with the Sabers

Don't matter if you are NHL or tradesman.. this is what we all face, as first nations people.
