Welcome to our channel, where we explore the fascinating world of networking! In this video, we'll delve into the concept of EVPN (Ethernet Virtual Private Network) and explore how EVPN handles BUM (Broadcast, Unknown unicast, and Multicast) traffic. We'll also dive into Route Type 3, IMET (Integrated Multicast Ethernet Tag) Route, and the mechanism of Ingress Replication. Whether you're a network engineer, a data center administrator, or simply curious about advanced networking protocols, this video will provide you with valuable insights and practical knowledge.

EVPN is a cutting-edge technology that enhances network connectivity and service delivery in modern networks. It combines the flexibility of Layer 2 Ethernet networks with the scalability and efficiency of Layer 3 IP networks, enabling seamless communication and advanced features in data centers and wide area networks.

In this educational video, we'll cover the following key points:

BUM Traffic Handling: Explore how EVPN efficiently handles BUM (Broadcast, Unknown unicast, and Multicast) traffic. We'll discuss the mechanisms used to deliver these types of traffic across the network, ensuring efficient and optimized transmission.

Route Type 3: Understand Route Type 3, a specific type of EVPN route used for handling multicast traffic. We'll explain how Route Type 3 routes are used to distribute multicast group information across the EVPN network, facilitating efficient replication and delivery of multicast traffic.

IMET Route: Dive into the concept of IMET (Integrated Multicast Ethernet Tag) Route, a mechanism employed in EVPN to optimize the forwarding of multicast traffic. We'll explore how IMET routes help reduce flooding and improve multicast scalability in the network.

Ingress Replication: Discover the mechanism of Ingress Replication, used in EVPN to replicate and forward multicast traffic at the ingress point of the network. We'll explain how this method eliminates the need for PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast) and improves the efficiency of multicast traffic delivery.

By the end of this video, you'll have a solid understanding of how EVPN handles BUM traffic, the significance of Route Type 3 and IMET Route, and the mechanism of Ingress Replication. Whether you're a network professional seeking to optimize network performance or an enthusiast interested in advanced networking protocols, this video will equip you with the knowledge to effectively implement and leverage EVPN in your network deployments.

When CE send ARP packet where destination is all Fs then PE replicate that ARP message to flooding list (to other PEs with two label LDP + Service label received in IMET route). Question is: for this replication what will be protocol type. Tried capture in wireshark between PE to PE but not getting any packet matching with this information
