I stayed married to a narcissist for 26 yrs thinking I was doing what I needed to do for my kids..he talked to me like I was an idiot...it was my fault he cheated and lied because I was fat or stupid or not smart enough ect. ..it was a mistake on my part . These people (men and women) they do NOT change. He thought because he never laid a hand on me that it isnt abusive . Words are a mighty sword that cuts to the bone. The best advice I could give is get out and dont make the same mistake twice. Just so you know I left that marriage and have been divorced 14 yrs..I went to college at 51 yrs old and I have 3 classes left for a Bachelors. Don't give anyone the power that Jesus Christ gave to you that person who is abusive is a pathetic waste of your energy...i never heard this song but the message is great and his singing is outstanding..you made really great comments Mr Ty I hope at least one person gets help

I have listened to this on repeat lately, (mainly because of the beat and how deep it is) but until you said something I hadn't fully realized what it was referring to. Please pray for me, I have a somewhat strained relationship with a parent. God bless. ❤️

It’s about self worth. It is hard to understand from the outside. There isn’t just one facet that keeps a person in an abusive situation. For me it was a slow progression. Starting with small verbal assaults lending me to believe it was my fault for not being good enough. Also my belief of god would want me to stay with the father of my kids. I know I can only speak for my self. But my own situation ended with me in the hospital with a broke rib and partially collapsed lung. I am lucky. I am grateful. I put my daughters first. I said to myself “What kind of example is that to them?” I would not want them to stay in this relationship. Also to my son. That NO this is not how you treat the woman you care for and love. Enjoyed the song.

I was hoping it was a different song titled Broken but couldn't remember the artist. Anyway hadn't heard this before but did enjoy it. Soothing way to deliver a message on bad circumstances. Ok went back to check, song is "Broken Things" by Matthew West lol

Thnx Isaac & Ty. Agree very deep indeed. Speaking from years experience...it's usually a ton of reasons why the abused stays. Most likely the abused doesn't even understand why they stay..it's such a confusing time. Many abused suffer from more forms than just one type of abuse @ the same time..physical, mental & emotional abuses go hand in hand. Imho the 1st thing the abused needs to do is seek guidance from a counselor or phycologist to help them sort out their specific details. This will help them heal spiritually, mentally & physically in order to become self reliant for a healthier decision process. Remember the abuser has a control issue & usually won't change..maybe they were abused as well. Therefore U have to take care of U period. If children are involved .. whether indirectly or directly .. they need a healing process too & should be removed from the situation asap..js. This is my opinion only from my life experiences..I am not a professional. God bless anyone entertwined in an abusive relationship 🛐✝️ Much Love💞
