one of the rare episodes where everyone got screwed AND saved at the same time.

Somehow the Twilight Zone fits the Western genre so well. Good Vs Evil. The Ordinary Man in Extraordinary Situations. Even the being on the edge of the Frontier, bordering the Unknown.
Plus it was economical with all the western sets around!

This is one of my favorites. It's remarkable how quickly they can get you to care for a character. I felt so bad for Denton when he embarrassed himself for the drink

I love these month-long segments. It's the most pleasant way of remembering what you'd forgotten to do today.

Thank you for including “the twist” section! I’m not sure if I would ever watch all of those episodes, and it’s nice to know the full summary. A series of 31 “but I won’t reveal the ending”s would get really dull quick.

Doug McClure (he played pete grant) You might remember him from such films as At the earth core and the land that time forgot

A story about a drunk being magically given a gun and great aim from a devil type character so he can go back to killing children like he used to. That is a proper twist that the devil turns out to be a forgiving angel.

I'm pretty sure Denton's backstory was reused for that of Gene Wilder's character in Blazing Saddles.

An interesting point about the casting of Dan Duryea is that, often, both in westerns and other genres, he is the villain, the weakling, the unstable one or loose cannon; often defeated by Gary Cooper, James Stewart, or others. He was wonderful at being the character the audience loved to root against (and yet somehow not always hate), and was capable of wonderful nuances in his acting. So the casting of Duryea in this role was smart in many aspects.

I’m surprised it took Channel Awesome this long to review the Twilight Zone, but I’m happy we got it.

I really liked this episode. The sinister presence is their in the salesman, just for him to be an "angel in disguise"
